Our Way of life and our very existence are under threat. Get educated and resist. In Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, published in 1932, we are provided with a view into a possible future that shows humanity under total control. It’s a world in which babies are created in the laboratory to fit specific job functions and a small number of savages live in the restricted wild lands. Journey to a Brave New World uses examples of news reports and the real history— not always the version taught in the classroom —to show how we are being managed and manipulated to allow for a total tyrannical takeover and massive depopulation that could lead us to Huxley’s vision. For over six years, author David Watts has undertaken deep research into the real history of the world and the ways in which it is being manipulated toward a future that only benefits an elite few. He provides many news reports, official documents and quotes from the so called ‘elites’ to piece the puzzle together. He presents a cohesive exploration of what to expect in the future if we don’t become involved in determining our own fate. Journey to a Brave New World seeks to help everyone to put the pieces together, deprogram, and understand both how we are being manipulated and how we can change direction now.

Within contemporary society the meaning of 'health' is surprisingly unstable. Guiding principles that once seemed self-evident have been challenged by new social, scientific and economic forces. This book argues that the foundational terms and concepts, which form the basic building blocks of dialogue about health, are now in flux. While the forces in play differ, and the pace of change is varied, there is now a 'brave new world' of health which characterises policy debate about health (and illness or disability). This permeates even the more narrow technical issues within clinical medicine, the law and medical science. This construction and reconstruction of health has important implications for the development of law and policy. The book draws on international and local experts to explore these issues. It opens with consideration of the economic and social forces of 'globalisation' - the macro level forces which now shape the 'lived realities' of health for the world's people. This is then contextualised through a series of detailed 'case studies' of more localised examples including; pharmaceuticals, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, body modification, abortion, anorexia and post-traumatic stress disorder. The book also interrogates the way modern health research influences public conceptions of health. Across these issues the book canvasses the social forces at work in the construction of health, disability and illness in shaping our understandings of such concepts by the public, by individuals, by the courts, and by international bodies. Brave New World of Health is an important contribution to advancing that understanding.

In his 1932 classic dystopian novel, Brave New World, Aldous Huxley depicted a future society in thrall to science and regulated by sophisticated methods of social control. Nearly thirty years later in Brave New World Revisited, Huxley checked the progress of his prophecies against reality and argued that many of his fictional fantasies had grown uncomfortably close to the truth. Brave New World Revisited includes Huxley's views on overpopulation, propaganda, advertising and government control, and is an urgent and powerful appeal for the defence of individualism still alarmingly relevant today.

This study of an extraordinary work of dramatic literature also addresses questions of the nature and dissemination of the scientific revolution. These facets are locked together: although the book does not deny that 'The Tempest' had deep roots in classical literature and elsewhere, it maintains that the play's remarkable dramaturgy and symbolism reflect subtle matters uniquely pertinet to its own fascinating time. A 'Brave New World of Knowledge' uncovers a number of previously little-appreciated connections of 'The Tempest' with specific problems or advances of knowledge, thus showing that the play reflected innovative proto-scientific modes of confronting the physical, biological, and human realms. It also argues that Shakespeare's play mirrored a new tendency to repudiate earlier Renaissance dreams of achieving omniscience and omnipotence. The play reflected a newer hope for knowledge based on speculative boldness linked with close observation, rational and sober precision, and a radical capacity to accept limitation and not-knowing.

One of the key issues facing us in the next millennium is the ability to manipulate the genetics of living organisms. The possibility of manipulating human genetics raises many theological, ethical and socio-political issues. These include specific decisions about whether the technology will be developed, how it will be applied and more general questions about the technical manipulation of 'natural' processes. From a theological perspective the human genome project not only challenges particular doctrines, such as that of creation, eschatology and anthropology, but also raises particular issues of social justice and medical ethics. The purpose of this book is to bring together the collective expertise of theologians, scientists and social scientists in order to provide a forum for critique and public debate focused on the human genome project. It is hoped that the results presented in this book offer a sophisticated theological and ethical response.
