Explore the connection between culinary inspiration and one of the world's oldest forms of rebel art! From James Beard Award winners, Top Chef competitors, and Food Network stars to prep cooks, interns, and sous chefs, few other people are more closely associated with tattoos than chefs. Professional kitchens have traditionally been an unseen haven for many of society's misfits, but recently they have been transformed into stages as the world's obsession with great food and great chefs continues to grow. Knuckle tattoos that once excluded a person from many careers have become a badge of honor and the tattoos are now a testament to their commitment to their craft. Eat Ink goes beyond their Michelin stars and chef's coats to explore what lies beneath: seasoned cooks who love preparing original plates and wear their tattoos proudly as they share the experiences that led them to the kitchen. Inside this cookbook, you'll discover a range of recipes as diverse as the chefs themselves, as well as personal details about the chef's remarkable journeys through the kitchen (and the tattoo parlor). From Lish Steiling's Roasted Parsnip and Kale Salad to Rick Tramonto's Gemelli with Chicken and Spring Herb Sauce to Duff Goldman's Pineapple Hummingbird Cake, each revealing profile offers a never-before-seen peek behind the kitchen door and into the mind of a chef. Complete with hundreds of full-color photographs and 60 delicious recipes from today's top chefs, Eat Ink invites you into their kitchens to sample some of world's best plates.

As youngsters in Bulbul Kothi, Allahabad, Rekha and Amina shared much: dolls, gossip, bits of adult-only knowledge. Perhaps nothing would have changed if Rekha's affair with Danish-bhai had not ended in bitterness and heartbreak. Now, after what seems like an eternity, they are back in each other's lives and they long to put the past to rest ... but can they? The age of cell phones, communal tension and terrorism exhumes the secrets they buried, revealing the brutal truth about what they once considered a simpler time. Neelum Saran Gour's loving narrative traces the journey of two friends in their search for closure and for a place 'where things are slow to change, where one could still find someone unchanged' ... for one thing is clear: their lives are now irrevocably altered.

Ink Pen never runs out of insights into the seedy underbelly of cartoon character employment. Dunlap has a truly unique perspective and storytelling style about the odd world of cartooning. From the very first frame, Ink Pen invites us to encounter the struggles of Hamhock, the talking pig who tries to make his big break into the biz. But it's a ruthless one that sees him only as a side of the other white meat. We quickly learn that rejection only makes us stronger . . . or slightly more stupid. Read and laugh as Hamhock and an array of plucky sidekicks are thrust into danger by careless superheroes and the villains they duel.

If the Author knows that he is meant to die one day or another, their characters on the other hand are fully aware of the fact that the day their book will be published and read, they’ll be sent to a world filled with people like them. The Snow White Universe, the place where all fictional characters are not only welcome but also allowed to live a normal life and be free from their author’s whims. But of course, every heavenly place has their own snake pit, their little pieces of Hell. In the Snow White Universe’s case, this snake pit was called Ever After. Having been created for the unfinished characters, the ones that had never known a happy end and had been forgotten by their authors as well by their readers, Ever After had, for a long time, been hidden under a dome. The Unfinished were treated like plague victims, considered as freaks of nature, hated and despised by the Founders, the oldest characters ever created in fiction. That was until the Word War occurred. Having heard that the Founders wanted to erase them from the surface of the Snow White Universe, the Unfinished fought for their right to exist. The Founders in charge of keeping an eye on them were banished and replaced by a family of Unfinished who took over the Palace and started to rule Ever After, doing their best to protect their people and ensure that everything was alright in the worst of all worlds. The question is... For how long will the peace last?

“Ebony, Ebony. Are you ok? I heard you scream.” Ebony slowly begins to stir. Her mother stands over her with a concerned look on her face. Ebony sits up and rubs the lengthy scar on her right forearm. What a dream. I haven’t dreamt of how I got this scar in years. Ebony groggily looks at her mother. “Did I scream out loud?” She embarrassingly inquires in that husky morning voice people have when just waking up. Mildred starts toward her daughter’s closet. “No dear, you didn’t. Now please, pull yourself together. We do have a funeral to attend.” Ebony’s mother searches through her closet. She keeps a firm grip on her emotions during times like this but she couldn’t help a tear streaming down her face as she pulls her daughter’s black satin dress out of the closet. Mildred wipes the tear off her cheek before turning to face her daughter. “Here, you can wear this. I’ll just put it over on the chair.” She retrieves Ebony’s black two inch heel shoes from under the bed. They are the appropriate kind. She places the shoes in front of the chair. “I know this is a trying time for you.” Mildred says as she sits at the foot of the bed. “I just want you to know that your father and I are here for you; no matter what.” Ebony begins to tear. Mildred moves closer to her daughter and comforts her. “It’s ok, baby. Go ahead, let it out.” She says as Ebony sobs even harder. I wish I could take all your pain away. Just then, a small black bird perches outside of the window. With no sunshine in sight, its shadow slowly creeps into the cozy little room.

It's twenty years since the Evenfall swept across the Vellum and the bitmites took reality apart, twenty years since Phreedom Messenger disappeared into the wilderness and Seamus Finnan was imprisoned in his own past. Twenty years of chaos but the Dukes, the remnants of the Covenant, still cling to power in their enclaves of order in the bitmite-devastated wilderness . . . in their Havens in the Hinter. Across the folds of time and space, though, rogues and rebels are rising up against the Empire. From a mediaeval fortress where wandering mummers stage a Harlequin play based on Euripides’s The Bacchae and performed in the Cant ... to Kentigern where another Harlequin, Jack Flash, wreaks havoc on a fascist state that thought him dead. From a 1939 Paris where Jack Carter and Seamus Finnan, heroes of the International Brigades, seek to rewrite history -- to a 1929 Berlin where a very different Jack seeks to save the world from a history he has helped make real. Locked in an eternal battle of chaos and order, it seems everyone must play their part now, as rebel or tyrant, hero or villain. ‘It is, quite simply, stunning and the most powerful debut novel I’ve read since Susanna Clarke’s Jonathan Norrell and Mr Strange’ Forbidden Planet magazine
